Title: Wetherspoons to offload some of their pubs
Post by: who can tell on April 15, 2016, 03:56:46 PM
The chairman of J.D.Wetherspoons has to decided to offload twenty pubs though out the country has profits have slumped along with their share prices falling at the end of 2015. One of the pubs selected for sale is the 'Courthouse' at Mansfield none of the Chesterfield pubs are for sale. The Swim Inn on West Street at Sheffield has been sold to Hawthorne Leisure the other Wetherspoon's are still trading as normal. Too many pubs perhaps, prices have risen to cover costs and with the new National Wage coming in could see more pubs placed on the open market but who would buy them ?

Chesterfield's must be doing well then  ;) I have to admit that apart from the Christmas meet it's not a pub I go in.

Meanwhile I have heard that the Smithy Pond in Wingerworth is closing for a re-furb later this year, and re-opening as a Hungry Horse place. never heard of Hungry Horse so I've no idea what to expect - ?

Plenty of choices on there Scimitar.
No doubt we will give it a try, if we don't like it we won't go back.
