Meanwhile a big piece of land that Tesco acquired in Shirebrook stands empty

I can't believe that Somerset House is going to be taken over by Tesco. My 3rd Great Grandparents (Denham's) lived in Somerset House in the early 1800's. Such a shame to think that such a fine building will have such tacky connotations. I hope it doesn't happen and if it does, that the building will be preserved.
Sorry, but this is also posted in another forum  :-\

Not fair to expect her to answer now she is no longer electoral candidate. Also if she was voted in by party members as the best and some (allegedly) made her less than welcome don't see that she is to blame

Coincidence that Team America World Police timed their hit when FIFA had voted to sanction Israel for Apartheid?

Only last week I saw something about an advert for a ride tester at Alton Towers. Maybe I'll give it a miss.
Strangely big theme parks seem to be riskier than travelling fairgrounds

It was the term "fast-tracked" that implied he was given special treatment

It goes by service (broken or unbroken) then alphabetical so it's following convention not fast-tracking.

Interestingly, Ray Catt's 41 years between terms must take some beating.

So we both pay give or take the same as I said in the first place.
Your example is just for those bothered about political figures.
You make it sound like I'm paying 50% more overall council tax for living in Bolsover  (y) ;)

A couple of good slashes and that hole would be filled Pete  ;D
God help the public when it's full of students  :P

No I'm comparing what we get for our money in council tax. What's better students (local people) having some use of it or little or no leisure centre?

Ours is 1005.83 of which 96.59 is CBC making the rest 909.34
If yours is 1061.52 take off county/fire/police of 909.34 this leaves your local tax (appreciating that some of it is provided by town council) of 152.18
ie approximately 58% higher than CBC

Break it down into the district /borough bit, your figure includes county / fire / police

Pete, I get the impression you know Barry from way back

I knew him 40 years ago when he was drummer for a band called Insted, the other members being classmates of mine in the 6th Form at Chesterfield School, Barry and 2 others plus 2 new members went on to form a rock band called Warrior who brought out an album in 1981. It started changing hands for silly money on Ebay so was re-released recently.

Also on photo are deputy mayor Steve Brunt (turning round) and with the chain, Chair of Staveley Town Council (again) Barry Dyke.
