I would doubt it because most pubs use such things to drum up trade on slow nights and you'd assume Friday isn't. But I will ask around

Fun Stuff / Re: TalkTalk broadband issues
« on: July 09, 2015, 10:13:39 PM »
We've tried to instal broadband at Stanedge golf club. We've been promised 18mb, we know we will be lucky to get 2. Router arrived, when I installed it, phone line went dead!! Phone technical support, " is the router plugged in' yes. "Are you calling from the number the router is installed on" err well given the fact that it kills the phone line no!! Ok we will send an engineer out. Thanks but I need 24 hours notice to make sure someone is there. Yes no problem. Got a call today at 3 o'clock. Hello this is the phone engineer I'm at the golf club and I can't get in.. Well I'm in Manchester so there's eff all I can do about it.

Politics / Budget

Ok so for avoidance of doubt I wasn't trying to be insulting but maybe I was a little sarcastic towards a certain other place. But my point still stands. A living wage, one of the major policies in the Labour campaign, hijacked by the Tories despite the fact that most of their supporters would prefer to see a maximum wage of £5 an hour.  If politics wasn't confusing enough!!
And as for it putting prices up, I agree, I've been saying that for ages

I'm amazed there's been no comments on here. I'm more amazed however that there's been no comments elsewhere. Must be difficult to support a party that has announced a living wage increase, something you vehemently oppose!
But then again I suppose on here it's difficult to praise a party you vehemently oppose when they announce a policy you whole heartedly support !
Isn't politics fun!!

Derbyshire Poet Laureate? And I'm also a bit of a loss as to why dcc have put £27m into getting fibre optic broadband setup. Surely In these hyper competitive times all the service providers are clamouring to do it?

Like I  said before politics dictate that you cut something that can be seen to have a 'social' effect so that the blame can be placed elsewhere. In answer to Slackers question it's perfectly obvious what has happened. Someone in Ivory Tower department A decides Road is dangerous to cross, crossing patrol person is utilised. Someone in the 'ivory tower department B decided road is still dangerous to cross outside of school coming and going hours so they instal a pelican. Trouble is dept b either don't tell dept a what they have done or dept a don't have the sense to redeploy the crossing patrol. Hence now there are so many that have to go.

A couple of friends of mine have just come back from Crete and the mood there is quite buoyant. Not sure how it works but so far the islands are largely unaffected apparently.

If you think back to the chaotic scenes surrounding Northern Rock you can understand why they've done it.. That said the UK government were in a position to bail NR out. The Greeks can't do the same. This is only going to end up badly
