General Discussion / Safely gathered in
« on: November 29, 2021, 01:24:49 PM »
Four Hoglets that is. Three from my own garden and one brought to me.
I'm only a small sanctuary so can't fit anymore in. If it were the spring summer it would be easier for me as they would be outside.

This is Viper. He's the noisy one and needs a lot of food as he appears to have a lot of worm infestation. Viper was the last one I took in from my garden in November. He's very vocal and on my first encounter with him he hissed at me. Now he just starts shouting at me if I'm disturbing him whilst cleaning the other three out.
In the photo I reckon he's sulking as he wanted his breakfast and I was late!

Chesterfield Discussion / The first snow of the year
« on: November 27, 2021, 01:04:32 PM »
I went to bed last night and could see flakes of snow in the rain.
Waking up this morning I watched a blizzard raging down our road.
It's not gone yet but certainly melted some of it.
Welcome to winter folks.

General Discussion / Chip Town
« on: September 11, 2021, 04:19:37 PM »
We have just enjoyed a week of Glorious weather in Skegness
It wouldn't be my first choice for a holiday but it was a working week and the two disabled ladies I took like it there.
But ---- nearly everywhere we went for a meal had very little choice except with Chips!
One day I decided to just have a  Tuna Panini - a loud voice from the bar shouted DO YOU WANT CHIPS WITH YOUR PANINI

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO I DO NOT  :-?

« on: July 05, 2021, 06:06:12 PM »
Wow what a storm On Sunday. We had just enjoyed a meal inside the Gazebo which is a second hand one we have bought especially for the village Gala.
It stood stron in that storm although did sway a little at one point - £50.oo quid well spent!

Purely a coincidence as the presentation has been book for quite awhile some of you may have seen the fire which destroyed the board walk on there. It will cost 15 grand to replace!!
Tupton History Society have invited a member of staff from the Wash Lands to give a talk about this area.

Chesterfield Discussion / Chesterfield and District 2021
« on: May 12, 2021, 08:29:56 AM »
Are there any plans in Chesterfield or surrounding areas to put on attractions, Entertainment, Carnivals etc etc.

I only know what our village has planned which is some groups will maybe reband whilst others may be gone for ever - Covid has seen to that.

We still need to be mindful but need to try and get back to some sort of social life.

I can only say our History Society has limped through and managed to keep going purely by using Zoom occasionally for presentation evenings. It's not quite the same though is it!

Chesterfield Discussion / Chesterfield
« on: April 24, 2021, 09:07:58 AM »
We nipped into the town yesterday. The first time for months!
Not really much market but as the sun was out and it was warm we sat outside Woodheads and enjoyed our first lunch out for months.
The Long Lockdowns got a bit dreary at times but the good news is we have saved quite a bit of money purely by not eating out and using fuel in the car.
So i have had a spree on the internet buying much needed Patio furniture. I had intended to use B&Q but they hadn't anything in which we liked - a bit sparse really. Apparently they are waiting for deliveries to arrive which are - on it's way - 'somewhere'

The good news is we still have a few quid left for 'extras'  ;)

General Discussion / Hedgehogs
« on: April 10, 2021, 09:22:44 AM »
Please Please think Hedgehog when strimming your gardens. I look after sick Hedgehogs and on Tuesday of this week recieved a message from someone who had one in their garden during the daytime.
I collected it and it obviously had an infection of some kind so phoned the vets practice where I take them should they need medical attention.
It was found to have several deep cuts thought to be by a strimmer. The cuts were infected.
It has had some Ticks removed and is receiving antibiotics.
We are now into Saturday. The hedgehog is still receiving care in the vets.
I'm hoping it survives so I can take it back and  build it up for release.

Please think hedgehog when you start gardening!
