Stagecoach will probably be the only vehicles allowed into town centre.
If you want a taxi, walk to the outskirts :(

Aren't taxis public transport.

Post by: handy on April 14, 2012, 09:47:24 PM: They will just lose shoppers and income generatered if people that rely on taxi's cannot get access to them , i would think mainly the elderly that are loyal shoppers to the town centre and use taxi's to transport them .
May be an idea to set up an online petitition for locals to sign we have seen to many village and town centre shops close due to lack of customers.

I know town centre is a problem with pedestrians wandering about, and especially at Stephensons Place/Cavendish St. They ignore the traffic light controlled crossings.Simply install steel railings around the crossings.How much would that cost- F@@k all!
So where are they planning to move you off to? I don't know of any new Bus stops which are pushing taxi drivers out of town centre.

That's not exactly "town centre" its a long walk for some folk.
Makes me wonder why so many bus services are being cut (another lot from 27th May), and then you get pushed out of town too.
How is this supposed to help business in town?
Seems counter productive to me.

Exactly how many folks have been run over in the town centre lately?

How come we don't get to hear about this until after the consultation period ended on Friday 13th?

Or are they just preparing a hatchet job like they are pushing through with the Youth Service?

Technically the Town Centre is pedestrianised now.
Its just that dozens of drivers choose to flout the laws and no-one is about to enforce them.

Why do Derbyshire County Council need to make changes - it's OK as it is.

Just bust folks who break the law, surely?
