Anyone figure out whereabouts the actual crash was? All I know is it was on Sheffield Road.

Nice pic Pete. The shop was Watsons butchers and the tram "jumped the Albert St loop" Albert Street was the road after the St Helens Inn, so I guess it was somewhere round there. It happened October 1926.

Wow poppy, you really know your stuff - I'm impressed. :)
Part of my family lived on Brunswick Street and I remember a Co-op being there near the St Helens - and I remember the name Albert Street, but it was all so long ago now.
How do you know the year, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks Pete. I've done a bit of research on the Stonegravels area as I'm a member of the St Helens local history group and I have the newspaper report about this smash.I'm trying to do some research on Stonegravels pubs for the group at the moment which is what led me to the forum. The history group put on an exhibition each year and whilst we have a mixture of stuff we specialise in a different area each year, ie one year it was weddings, last year transport and this year its local education. The old Chesterfield Grammar School, St Helena and the technical college all fall within the "St Helens" area so if anyone has any school pictures they would be prepared to share. . . . . . .
