Another T***** ?
Give me an 'A'....

Just for a change, where's your backing to your post.
Links etc
-
Oops. JR, have you got a link ?
-
And I guess T**** will pay for the road improvements as per other sites.
Please God not another T****.
What prospects for the Co-op if that happens?
Look at the site they occupy, ElderWay, Knifesmithgate. If they pulled out of Chesterfield what would they do with all those buildings.
Got it - New centralised bus station & taxi rank!!
Shame though as it puts my daughter out of a job as she works at Co-op!
Makes you wonder what the deeper thoughts of the council are in possibly killing off other existing stores though :(

"The plans, which will go forward for a full public consultation in the next few weeks, include a major foodstore, retail outlets and restaurants, a cinema, 80 bed hotel, 85 homes, offices, and 700-800 replacement car parking spaces, plus an outdoor performance area"
considering the site currently only has 255 space how pray tell are they going to get that little lot on there?
I could be wrong but they are either going to be building very high into the sky or these proposals include other areas like Saltergate MSCP and the Allen and Orr wood yard site.
-
All those, I think, plus the Ryland Works site on Newbold Road.

Give me a 'S'....

I misread your earlier post, I thought you were saying it 'was' T***** ;)
@Big Dave ..DA
-
Yup - ASDA. I reckon the car wash, timber yard and multistorey will all go.
-
I've said it before, I'm all in favour of development but not at the expense of local businesses being closed down and while there are already empty spaces for retail....is the old Comet still empty. Lets have a bit of individuality and originality, not more of the same.
-
Hasn't the discount shop moved into Comet from next door?
-
Yes it has. Got my HDMI cable from there thursday.
-
I agree with you K4B, if you look at the total area in Google Earth, it's potentially four times the size of the Donut carpark. That gives a lot of scope for originality, like re-routing the roads to provide a pedestrian friendly link to the town centre. Unfortunately, no matter what is done, I doubt it will make Chesterfield much more of an attractive destination for out-of-towners.
As for the existing empty shops, if they don't cater for current need by virtue of size, location and overheads then they'll remain empty - not a lot can be done about that.

I'm not sure what you're talking about Barry? The topic? Or the fact that yet again the Chesterfield Forum is the source for an FF topic of converssation? ;D ;)

Nobody wants you here.
