Title: Town centre to be one-way
Post by: Stuart on May 19, 2012, 06:28:06 AM
For a bit, starting Monday: we've had a letter at work from Severn Trent Water explaining that from 21st May and for the next five weeks* Holywell St and St Mary's Gate will be one way, northbound only, while southbound traffic will be diverted via Durrant Road and onto the A61 via the slip road at the Chesterfield Hotel. Access to local businesses is to be maintained.

Have fun!!

* I hope that's not five weeks in "Top of Rutland Road" time.

Edit: I've allowed this post, not sure why the spam trap flagged it  q?  MD

Taken from this website, http://derbyshire.roadworks.org/ (http://derbyshire.roadworks.org/)
It's going to be fun in Chezzy. Think I'll get a paper round and give the taxi trade a break  :(

One fly (sorry Barry!) in the ointment (the other metaphor isn't PC!!!!) will be the drivers that simply cannot follow road signs.

The roadworks on Saltergate (did you know about them?  Yp ) have 3way temporary traffic lights controlling the traffic. For traffic coming out of town towards Ashgate Rd there is a sign just before Tennyson Ave/Clarence Rd junction stating "KEEP JUNCTION CLEAR" why the f*ck do people insist on totally ignoring the sign and blocking it off whilst waiting for their signal to turn green???!!!!  >:( This results in traffic approaching town and wanting to turn right down Clarence Rd having to wait until the traffic in the opposite direction moves off.

This results in a tailback and traffic going out of town unable to move! W*nkers!  >:(

Also, the title of Worst/Best job in the world (you decide) must go to the guy from LUX Traffic Management, who seemingly has to sit in his cab all day in case the lights fail?  ???

Agreed, there should be a box junction at the top of Clarence Road like there is at Tennyson Avenue.

How stupid is this, giving chessy a wide berth for awhile unless really desperate and can't think why I may have to go that way at the moment - so be using Alfreton if need be  :(
