Title: Doctors to go on strike
Post by: Pete on May 30, 2012, 06:24:54 PM
There's a lot wrong with the world today - but doctor's poverty isn't one of them.

I saw this on the Guardian website and was struck by this quote, "But health secretary Andrew Lansley said that doctors were out of touch in contemplating a strike when medics who opt to work until they are 68 would receive a pension of £68,000 a year in retirement."

Yes, £68k per year!

I could sympathise with the nurses, but not with the doctors.

Nice link Chris - they are more bent than I originally thought.

That's the problem with doctors, for some reason or other people treat them like gods. Well, they aren't. And the dodgy ones are just plain greedy gits.

Added:

Just seen your post on the other forum - love this line, "So they can shove their attitude toward public pension reform right up their backside. Sideways." :)

They will do whilst the doctors keep signing their sick notes, invalidity claims etc.
No disrespect to those people that are genuinly ill. But I'm not going to change my posting style, less I offend someone.

My eldest is an accountant in an office that deals exclusively with doctors. The amounts of money they earn are gobsmacking, and many have no idea of control / accountabilty with very poor records, and money being blown all over.

My sister has recently started going out with a doctor and he is semi-retired, (early), and seems flush, but he's a really nice bloke.

I can't see them getting much sympathy with the public but what they may have seen is that the slightest bit of pressure or bad headlines aimed at Cameron, and he buckles. So they'll probably get their own way.
