I thought about that, but thought that the 'one off' visitors would probably appreciate the answers, and that we 'regulars' would be restrained enough to have a go before peeping!! :)
Coincidentally on I set a few years ago had Hasland as first answer.
Possibly because it's the easiest one? ;)
-
You could 'Do a Dawn' and keep this thread going for a while with more posers.
I'll start.

Here's ones I posted elewhere, strange symbols seem to have appeared. Hope I can remember answers.
Found a copy of a quiz I set a couple of years ago for an event, cryptic clues for local villages or estates. They form a sort of logical route starting and ending around the Birdholme area (the tie-breaker originally was distance you would need to travel to get round the journey.)
1) Owns a plot
2) Late ex PM
3) Quietly change weight
4) Mark Mr Richard
5) Knocks down skittles
6) Circus employee
7) Source of underground humour?
8 ) Deadly swamp
9) A French rock
10) Meat cutter
11) Optimists live here
12) Undergoes southern surgery
13) Cook to perfection
14) End of corporal punishment

19) Local football match
20) Sign of a poor appetite
21) Man get older
22) Warm weather attire
23) Piece returned to ledge
24) Value of 7 or 11
25) Young old Liberal leader?
-
Pass...
-
They follow a logical route because when I set it for the Langerfield Gala Day the tie break question was the distance travelled. Think I've sussed them all out now. They're intended for a bit of thinking about not instant answer. First prize is bragging rights or the nasty thought that you think on the same lines as me.

Who's Mark Scar? I got the cliffe bit but couldn't link Mark to scar.
And I'd never heard of Heage either...I was trying to link it somehow to Hathersage

A mark is another name for a scar. Very simple really.
How come that all of my answers are challenged? I assure you that Heage does exist and I'm confident that it will be the correct answer when Andy checks them. :)
-
How come that all of my answers are challenged?
Because you are thinking on a higher level than our, (my), simple minds will reach!
-
Think they are all right except Worksop (which is in Notts) must work out what is left and re-post. Don't forget the logical order bit they don't zig zag all over.
-
Unless I've missed any these ones remain.
3) Quietly change weight
14) End of corporal punishment
15) Rocket Man
18 ) HCTID
20) Sign of a poor appetite
I'll leave it a bit longer before I give any hints

-
The one you thought was Worksop is Hassop.
-

11) The point of a rose isn't a fish.

I'm finding them quite tricky so any clues (or perhaps a whack around the head with a sledge hammer) would be helpful.
-
Clues:
3) Alsatian is correct.
5) Think of a famouus landlord known as Dirty..............you are halfway there.
6) Slad garnish...think of a small leafed thing you have on salad, (I don't think its in Notts, but its heading that way).
8 ) Tell tales or inform on someone, term used often in relation to criminals and the police, place in Chesterfield.
9) Would be more accurate if I said She killed Alien.
11) The point of a rose.......think what that is called, and something fishey thats not a fish.
18) I thought there was only 1 famous aussie swimmer, know that and you are halfway there, but how do you get a slice.
