Just seen an advert on tv where it may be possible for people to reclaim monies paid in respect of care home fees, where the primary reason for care is health based.
Anyone any experience of this, and is it limited to nursing care homes or does it include residential care homes?

I think it if nursing is required rather than just care but if you find out any different please let me know

My wife's parents are about ready for this too - I would also appreciate any further info.

I think the latest thing being discussed is a loan scheme where the person goes into a home and then pay for it after they've passed away when the relatives sell the house.
So students have to get into debt, pensioners have to get into debt, Govt about to launch Green Deal, a loan for energy improvements in the home.......have they not learned anything about the debt we have built up over the years, thats why we are in an economic mess right now.

Thanks Fly - saw that previous to my initial post, problem is that all the websites I look at simply state 'care home' and don't specify residential and/or nursing. Have applied for a form from one company and will let you know any progress.

Always go for a nursing home when elderly people are in need of being looked after.
We did this for my hubbies late mum who initially didn't need nursing care but eventually she did. This meant that mum didn't need to move.
Being a wealthy lady she had to pay for the care but once she needed nursing care she did get help with fees.
Things have changed since then I know - but look into things very carefully before making a decision.
