Chesterfield Canal Trust Staveley Basin Summer Fair 2012 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yapb4Htt6go#ws)

We drove over to have a look around :)
Found out it was £3 each to get in, so went to the mothers for a cuppa and a biscuit 8)

:) :) :)
It would have been nice to have known about this in advance, we may have gone but only found out about it as we drove past on the way to somewhere else.
The same happened the night of the jubilee concert, just as we were putting the kids to bed the fireworks started going off in Poolsbrook Park at the bottom of our garden. Had we known we would have kept the kids up and gone.
If councils are going to invest in things like this, they ought to do a bit of local promoting, maybe a few signs or banners, then they might get a better turnout....and a bigger turnout might mean they won't have to charge as much to make it worthwhile.

To be fair Kev, I thought there were plenty of notices in and around Stavely.
And I don't live there.

I tend to agree with Kev - I hadn't seen any publicity about it or I would've taken the family.
After all, it was only £3 - doesn't buy 10 fags these days... :P

I'll start posting details of events I see on my travels :)
After all, I do get around a bit ;)

I must be going blind, I saw lots of banners advertising the military day thing which was the following day, but nothing about the Saturday. Maybe I ought to wear my glasses more. :)

I heard about the canal open day and wrongly assumed that it was happening at the Tapton Lock end as in previous years. There was a tiny poster in the window of the shop there advertising it so we drove over to Staveley and had a look around. It was ok and fairly well attended.

Someone went round removing the C from several of the Canal Festival signs between Brim & Morrison's
