As Pete wants more posts from others, heres one.
I was reading today about Britains booming motor industry leading the way in manufacturing with all the knock on jobs. We are exporting more cars than ever before, producing more than any other country in Europe and have more car manufacturers with plants here compared to anywhere else in Europe. We are also seen as a "center of excellence", for example with many motorsport teams. And billions of £s have been committed in new plants / models, etc
This is surely good news for our economy so I wonder why Pete hasn't mentioned it, maybe because its happening under those nasty Tories while Labour, well they did close down Rover......
Over to you, Pete...

Don't be so childish.

I will Grant you All That K4Blades, but , I could not help wondering
how many British Owned Car Manufacturers are in those figures.
-
Unless you mean Reliants or Bentleys I presume you mean made by British workers but under foreign ownership?
-
Depending on whether or not you include Aston Martin (owned as it is by a consortium including Ford USA, 2 Kuwaitti and one US investment banks and Dave Richards of Prodrive) the most productive UK car company is probably Morgan who make 800 cars a year!!
There is however one more productive one but I will leave that for people to guess.

Reliant don't exist as a manufacturer anymore and Bentley are owned by VAG.
-
If any business in the UK is owned by foreigners, then that says even more about our economy, afterall they could take their business elsewhere, but instead they are providing jobs in this country....yet all we hear is how the Tories are destroying manufacturing....
Would you rather those businesses didn't exist because we should restrict ownership to British owners.

Don't be so childish.
:P :P :P :P :P
-
And maybe the other thing it says is that British workers are quite capable of doing a great job, but failed when managed by over regulated, old fashioned, union dominated working practices, but when you free them to work under the principles a foreign business may use, they flourish.

Hope Jags are still worth 50% of the cost when they're 5 years old.
My Hyundai is. Though probably built at a s**t hole abroad somewhere by workers earning pennies.
BMW 320d's arent. Trust me, I sold one last year. Cost £30,000, got £7000.

Not noble either.
To give you all a clue I'm surprised Fly hasn't come up with the answer.
