hi anyone remember the seventies in chesterfield where you had to go down a flight of steps to the toilets,i was in between 1-9 then,i think it was new square,can anyone help clarify,thanks

Yeah, as I remember they were in New Square by the back of the Market Hall. I'll see if I can find a picture.

There are still toilets with steps down at the side of the market hall

If it's the ones in New Square - you can see where they were on the photo linked here (under the telephone boxes, you can just make out the black railings) - http://bit.ly/NSoSTZ (http://bit.ly/NSoSTZ)

I think the ones under the Market Hall itself were opened/added when they modernised the Market Hall a few years ago - I seem to remember them putting a new "top" on the front tower at the same time.
