Last time I went out for a meal was last autumn - we went to Siam Corner on Lordsmill Street near the roundabout. Nice meal, service a little intrusive, price, not too bad.
Unfortunately the economic probs are hitting me hard, so I wondered if anyone knows where I can get a decent meal without it costing the earth?
This could be something that benefits other members too - all suggestions gratefully received. :)

TBH, the meals me and our_lass had in Spa Lane Vaults were good value.
1 Mixed Grill, chips, salad, mushroom.
1 Brontosaurus ;D Burger, Chips, salad, dip.
2 Pints Carling, apparently these were free with the meals
£13.50ish - 2 pints of Carling @ £5.50 = £8 for 2 meals ;)

The Highfields is pretty good value

I think I remember Aitch talking about that place Jon - can't remember whether it was thumbs up or thumbs down.

we've been 4-5 times. No complaints
It's nothing flash but its great value

Olde House is quite reasonable

Been to the Olde House a couple of times this year - food was crap. One meal was gammon with fried egg on top. I didn't eat the egg, I sold it to Goodyear... :D

Only been once since the refurb - but agree with you there Jon (aren't/weren't they advertising free desserts?) I had a lamb shank - and, no that isn't rhyming slang!!! ;D

I had a meal at the Highfield during the first week of opening after the re-furbishment. At the time, I gave it a massive thumbs down but, if Jon and Keith have had decent food on more than one occasion, it sounds like it was probably teething troubles and that they have now got things sorted.

I've also eaten at the Donkey Derby several times - off both the cheap(er) and dear(er) menus - no complaints at all :)
