Will anyone be watching ?
We watched last night and I thought that Mel B was really rude - out spoken is one thing - but how it is said is another >:(
Whooo and what about that woman singer --- had a right tantrum and violent with it! :o
-
I watched it too, OC. I have to agree with you about the rudeness of Mel B. ... though I can see where she was coming from because most of the "singers" were pretty bad.
Zoe (as Pink) and her family amused me. I'll bet it's fun in their house with everyone doing tribute acts :)) She didn't do herself any favours though either with her singing but especially with her tantrum.
-
thats Saturday TV ruined until Christmas then
-
I probably won't get to watch all of it and generally get bored with it after awhile anyway :) See how it goes eh!
-
Funny how some of the Press run it down because there were less viewers this time than last, but there were 8.7 million folks tuned in!
I suppose the ratings are very much of interest to advertisers, rather than the population.
-
I might get more into it as it progresses. Saw (Pink) doing her hissy fit though :)) :)) :))
-
there were 8.7 million folks tuned in!
which represents a 2 million drop on last years launch show which itself was well down on 2010 levels.
-
But that's my point Jon - the press keep banging on about how the figures are down, but 8.7 MILLION folks watched it!
-
Perhaps the viewing figures were down because people knew, 'The Sun', had got advertising time Yp
-
In relative terms 8.7m is a poor audience for a flagship Saturday night programme. Don't forget that what they are hoping is that it will deliver the majority of that 10-11 million audience into the next programme and allow ITV to sell higher rate advertising.
-
What flagship ITV Saturday night programme has had 8.7 million viewers for the last month or two.
There's been jack shiete on ITV recently :-X
She's been watching the freeview channels at the weekend recently.
-
You're not getting my point Jon.
"Funny how some of the Press run it down because there were less viewers this time than last, but there were 8.7 million folks tuned in!

In other words the value to advertisers is paramount - not the majority of viewers.
I watch shows because I like them, not because they make more money for advertisers. In fact I would like to see more tv shows that don't need adverting. They may as well show folks being beheaded or raped - that would cheer up the advertising world no end.
-
Chicken and egg.
Ratings are of interest to advertisers though the demographic is of as much importance.
But ratings are important to ITV because of the costings.
A 30 second advert in prime time costs around £30k
X factor can charge 5 times that and nearly 10 times during the final.
If they aren't delivering the numbers anymore then the programme is in trouble
-
It was only the first show, how many more will watch next week after Pinks hissy fit this week.
Will ITV up the ante for primetime advertising as the show goes on.
If only 40 people watch next week, there still raking in the money for advertising, if you get my drift ;)
-
Never watched it, no intention of doing so. Bunch of useless, talentless, no-hopers who think they can have fame and fortune handed to them on a plate with no hardwork, while being exploited by people who just want to sell records, rather than produce good music. No wonder the charts are full of shit.
And it was just like a fad when it came along, appealing mailnly to tweenies, just like they do with boybands, the tweenies grow up, get bored and move on. Hence falling figures.
Bring back rock and roll.
-
Whilst it occasionally kickstarts the career of someone with a good singing voice there are no programmes to help those acts along with genuine creative talent who play their instruments and write songs. I presume this sort of thing wouldn't attract enough viewers and therefore the advertisers. Shame one of the BBC digital channels couldn't do this sort of thing.
-
>> Bring back rock and roll.
Yep. Behind that 100%!
But the guy at the beginning of the program, Jahmene Douglas, had a brilliant voice - and control over an incredible range - as soon as he started singing I immediately thought of George Michael.
Unfortunately I fear that he will be sucked into what is a typical industry pop machine and spend far too much time and energy in the bullshit market - and probably not get a decent chunk of any earnings.

I think that was the idea behind BBCs "The Voice", but like all these shows, they turn to "the public vote" and all the little girlies end up voting for who they think is pretty....which isn't the same as talented.
I'm all for the old fashioned talent show kind of thing, such as New Faces, aimed at taking an unknown artist and giving them a lucky break, but thats completely different to looking for someone who has done little work in the industry to be to be moulded into some sort of cash cow.
Its a matter of deciding whats more important, the entertainment or the money, and unfortunately these days, its the quick buck that wins.
-
I thought in our post-Olympic bliss, we weren't supposed to be having anything to do with these attention-seeking idiots anymore?

George Michael, now there a good singer pity he sings such crap these days (wonder if Andrew Ridgley is still racing)
I'm just hoping they don't start ramming those flipping dancers down our throat, I don't mind a few but they've gone stupid with them.
-
Louis Walsh summed the programme up perfectly during the last series.
Refusing to vote a girl through he gave his reason as 'yes she sounds great but she doesn't LOOK like a pop star'
-
Usual some good, some bad tonight :-X
-
we missed most of it - had a tidal wave coming in through extension door :-? Flipping drain blocked up with leaves! Boy didn't it rain!!

I thought the young female guitar player/singer/songwriter from Sheffield was very good - her song reminded me of the type Victoria Wood used to sing.

We totally agree, Victoria Wood, with a little Pam Ayres thrown in. Oops, showing my age now :-[
-
Just love Victoria Wood - makes me laugh she does. We watched an old 'audience with' not so long ago. ;D
-
Red cabbage, how much?

Stunning performance by Chris :'(

Yes we were both :'( very emotional ending. Some decent acts last night

Two minds with but a single thought and all that eh?!

I quite liked the green outfit O:-)
-
She'd probably be better if she could overcome her confidence issues. ;) :)

ahhh you mean the fig leaf ----and didn't that body stocking slip down below the errr top fig leaf whilst she was errr chasing Gary Barlow :-[
-
Lucy Spraggon, classic 8)
Don't think she'll win, but great new tune ;)
-
Did you watch last nights - the homeless young man.
He reminded me of Dylan - just walked away from it very sad :(
-
Still a few good singers in this comp. But a lot of over-rated ones.
Been watching it quite a bit this weekend due to the chest pains and lack of concentration I was suffering ;)
-
I'm not overly impressed with most of the finalists. I like Melanie and Ella and, even though he's a complete dick, I think that Rylan will have a bright future.
-
Well put Bruce

Couple of good voices coming through now.
Liked Jahmene.
-
I thought he was good too.
-
Didn't realise you watched this crap.
Our_Lass says hope the police aren't watching the forum.
She thinks he's gay.
Can she post her thoughts on here :D
-
I only watched one and he was on it - see my earlier post.
-
Time to whittle them out :)
-
We started watching it last night and got bored with it. I read in papers whilst on hols there has been some bitching between judges??
-
Ella and Jehmene for the final IMHO ::)
