There's a good article on the DT website today about a regeneration plan for the old Staveley Works site.
"The ambitious 20-year scheme, being put together by Chesterfield Borough Council and Chatsworth Estate, the land owners, includes a new marina, with businesses, shops, homes, a new park, primary school and a link road."
A good read for anyone interested in future plans for the Staveley area.

Will be great if they can get it off the ground but given the trials and tribulations that the Carbonisation plant at Wingerworth is going through I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd hate for this to get into a posh against working class argument but if in a prosperous area like Wingerworth a developer can't justify the money to clean the site I really can't see what money is to be made in Staveley. Chatsworth estates haven't exactly been falling over themselves to develope any of the other land they have in Staveley and Barrow Hill.

20-year scheme
I browsed some of the, 'possible planning ideas', on either CBC or DCC website.
One of them was housing between the bottom of Barrow Hill and Hollingwood.
Wouldn't this new scheme sort of blend in with it ?
Not saying whether I think it's good or bad :-X

I appreciate new homes need to be built.
Residents will always appose new plans though.

Agree with Chris. If we could make such a difference to so many homeless people, then that would be a project of which we could be proud.
