On the face of it this sounds like no more than reasonable force.
If 4 main raid your home you can't ask them nicely to go away. The gun was licensed, they only shot to injure and called the police.
Totally different from Tony Martin who shot a fleeing burglar in the back.

Agree with Slacker - they asked for it.
-
Scum in both cases. They deserve to be shot.
I don't break into peoples houses, therefore I don't get shot.
Harsh yes, but true q?
-
This country is a joke. What are you expected to do if someone breaks into YOUR home? Help them carry the telly out?
Good on this couple for shooting them. The 4 shouldnt have been there, they deserve everything they get. The couple need an award, not a police record.

We all have a right to defend our homes, I don't think they should have been arrested

We'll see soon enough.

Shoot to kill.
An Englishmans (Scots,Welsh etc) home is his castle.
Invade, prepare to be repelled.Simples.
It's one apparent positive law change that seems to be working in favour of the victim of the crime, rather than the offender(s). :)
-
Result. Shame they had to be in custody for 40 hrs before release.
-
The law is an ass here at times
-
I believe 2 of the burglars got 4 years in prison.

One got a shot/pellet in the face, tough >:(
