Title: Mrs Biggs
Post by: Old Cruser on September 09, 2012, 09:39:49 AM
Did anyone else watch this last week?
I found it very entertaining and interesting and am wondering how near to the truth of the real events this is.
Obviously I know of the train robbery and events which followed (what I can remember anyway) but have never known the run up story to it.
Will be watching again this week

Yes I watched it too and also found it very good. I too wondered how close to the truth it was, I suppose they have a certain amount of poetic licence in order to make it entertaining.

If I see a book including the run up to the robbery I will buy and compare it.

As I was last night too.  Is a great series isn't it?  I think Sheridan Smith is taking a brilliant part.

I wouldn't swear to it but during the court scene last night, there was a woman on the jury who was wearing a black hat and a pattered jacket.  She may well just have been a film extra of course, but she looked awfully like the REAL Mrs Biggs.

Note to self - Google it and check!

 :)

Well spotted Mrs. Biggs ......

"THE real Mrs Biggs makes an appearance in this week’s episode of the ITV1 drama.

Charmian Brent, who divorced Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs in 1976, was a consultant on the series.

Viewers will see Sheridan Smith, as Charmian, appearing in court as legal arguments take place, with the real Charmian sitting behind her in the public gallery.

Writer Jeff Pope says: “It’s her little Hitchcock moment.”"

I've really enjoyed the series so far.
