I like my t-shirts, especially ones I wear on holiday abroad. It's me.
I wouldn't want to dance on Thatchers grave :(
Now if it said, 'Dance on the tory party's grave', without mention of 'her', that's a bit different.
She was only the face in front of the party.
-
There's also a Maggie Thatcher death party pack available, pick or what?
-
That's nasty and sinking low. I know she's still not a popular lady even after all these years, but come on - she is someones mother, sister, aunt etc.
-
A long time ago I would have worn one, but have to agree that it's best if these things slip away into the past. If you are still that angry about her and her government's policies, then you need to get over it and get a life.
-
Colin's response on Facebook?:
The tshirts we have been selling for years are such bad taste that the Derbyshire times has put a photo of it on the front page. I assume they think it will sell newspapers as well. The musical billy Elliot contains lyrics that go far beyond the sentiments on the tshirts but strangely the daily telegraph et al are not worried about the sensitivities of the coach loads of tourists who pack the west end theatre everyday. We were selling tshirts to trade unionists not tourists! Surely it is not news that many people have strong opinions about how thatcher's demise will be covered.

That borders on hate - hate destroys the minds - put the past in the history books and move on!

There's worse going round Facebook, pages and pictures. Latest I've seen is Maggie hanging from a Liverpool scarf

I will not be dancing on Thatcher's grave. I will, however, be round the cemetery with a lorry-load of concrete, to make it more difficult for her to get out when the Moon is full.

>> The political threads on this forum are quite laughable sometimes.
I hope so, there's been too many that have turned too serious.
But I'll repeat what I have said in the past, "this is a local forum, not the Cambridge Debating Society".
Not every discussion needs to turn into a major debate.

The political threads on this forum are quite laughable sometimes.
So raise the level of debate but accept that your 'greed is good' capitalist stance ( >;) on all political issues may be found just as amusing by some as you find the left wing tory bashing view.

This was more spontaneous than printed tee shirts but had the same sentiment. should the whole crowd have been arrested for expressing their thoughts.
Thatcher was hated by many and I see no reason to think differently now she has Alzheimer's (a condition affecting relatives of a few people who post on here).

Not selling them for personal gain they are to keep an advice centre going that provides help for those most in need. Ironic that Thatcher's name should be used in this way

People were deluded ;-) LOL

I think Margaret Thatcher attracted extreme views. People I have talked to either seemed to love her or hate her - there seemed to be no middle ground.
Just because she was voted in by a majority doesn't mean millions didn't dislike her, it just means more millions liked her.

1979: Tory vote 13.6m other main parties 15.8m
1983 Tory vote 13m other main parties 16.2m
1987 Tory vote 13.7m other main parties 17.3m
don't get me started on our electoral system AGAIN!!!
-
I still think it's carrying hate on for too long, a bit loke some of the older generation who still hate Germans because of the war (not the sunbeds ;))
Lifes just too short.

The stats were there to disprove Pete's theory that millions more loved Maggie than hated her.
You'll get no argument from me that our archaic first past the post system produces results that don't reflect how the nation really voted.
The difficulty is that those opposed to change will point to the fact that such a system would a) allow for extremist fringe candidates getting a say (it probably wouldn't but never let the facts get in the way of a good rant) and b) produces results that gave us the current coalition which they then claim is the worst of all worlds.
