There are proposals to reduce the number of ambulance stations in Derbyshire from 16 to 2.
Ambulance crews work 12 hour shifts and unlike the fire service who have a lot of stand-by time they are busy most of the shift. These potential changes would add more travel time to very long shifts.
If you live out in the sticks you could have a long wait to get treated.
Sounds like a bad idea to me.

How on Earth can they justify a reduction like that?

Economies of scale I guess. Not sure if they expect the crew to stop out as the paramedics do

Love the socialist party reaction to this.
"When EMAS lost the contracts for patient transport services, a third of the ambulance service was privatised. This was done under Labour but it was in the spirit of the Con-Dems' vision for as much privatisation as possible and as many cuts as they can get away with"

The Socialist party aren't afraid to attack Labour, thought it happened more recently though

That's disgraceful. Just not going to cope are they!
