From comparison sites it's not just a case of comparing a few companies but each one seems to have loads of different packages and introductory discounts. Each one promises to beat others though often they will say things like you pay x amount per month with them we can do it for a tenner less. This is course meaningless unless you have a zero balance in a 12 month period. Thanks for the offer though, I think I've been with the present one long enough to give a year's readings so I'll look it up.

Except of course you've got absolutely no idea what a nationalised British Gas would be charging given that the government would be using the income to prop up the econony or how much extra they would be costing us every year for infrastructure improvements.
Labour Red Rose tinted glasses are fine but only if there is some level of proof.

I registered with a similar organisation a while ago - can't remember the name - and, unfortunately, nothing came of it.

I have a lack of faith in most things council, I won't be signing up.

I registered with a similar organisation a while ago - can't remember the name - and, unfortunately, nothing came of it.
I've been trying to find the name of the company but can't, the outcome of the operation was that not all the big six energy providers were willing to take part and, of those that did, they couldn't be competitive enough for me to change supplier.
Can't imagine that this will be any different.

As Cchris said, if the council can't sort their own, how can they help us.
I trust Cchris can back up his statement I've just backed him on LOL
I've no reason not to.

Must admit the 5000 caught my eye, it's a drop in even Derbyshire's ocean.
