Anyone interested? Favourites?
I hope Obama gets his second term - mainly because I think Romney is a ****. ::)

American politics always strikes me as a confusing mess.
Here David Cameron decides to do something and more otr less does it because he carries Parliament with him
Over there Obama decides to do something but then finds his ideas and plans blocked by their equivalent of Parliament the 'Congress'
Thus whilst you can (and republicans do) blame Obama for the economic failures of the last 4 years a lot of it has to do with his reforms being blocked by them.
You then get each state deciding on stuff important to them. I know this is ish the equivalent of counties but they don't for example all have different rules regarding law and order, punishments, and the way people register to vote unlike American states.
So the President whilst being probably the most powerful man on the planet doesn't have things all his own way.
That said I think Romney would be worst thing that could happen to America right at this time. I hope Obama gets 4 more years simply as the lesser of 2 evils.
The results however are far too close to call given the US voting system of the elctoral college.

Forgot to add that I shall be interested to see if Slacker has his own opinion on this or of he is only capable of bombarding Facebook with other people's pictures!!

"Im more interested in our own economy though at present, and having just done further reading on the timebomb that is our public pensions"
What's the issue? or should I say the previously unknown issue?

I've opened a new thread for pensions.
Back on topic the pundits are saying that it's too close to call. We could be left in the same situation as 2000 Dubya v Gore election where one man wins the popular vote but doesn't win the election.
There are only about 13 of the 50 states actually in play. The first big indicator if you are thinking about staying up to watch should come about midnight when the tv networks will be in a position to call the result in Ohio.
If Romney doesn't win there he has virtually no chance of victory.
If he does then the margins will be narrow but he should get elected.

The choice in America only seems to be right or centre, not sure why there are no union backed candidates but maybe because of the mega bucks required for the campaign.
Republican friends I have on facebook seem to be mainly motivated by the threat to having to give up their guns. They also seem to link the far right with Christianity whereas Obama wants to do the sensible thing of keeping State and religion apart.
I just feel the world will be a safer place if Obama remains.

Not a political reply.
But apart form the last gov's mess that Obama inherited.
I don't even know if it was the same party.
America seems pretty stable to me. Mr man in the street. That's all I am.
Not sure if a change of President would be good right now.
Either way, it's time for both of us pull out of the East, sit back with a few weapons ready,
to stop them attempting to take over the west. And let them fight their own fights.
Yes this ain't going to happen 8)

Usually I would attempt a google before posting Andy.
I'm sure I'm excused for not bothering ;)
Just threw my opinions into a few posts before I switch off :)

Seems we have the result that most of the world wanted

Good result. :)

Well Obamas in. Will view with interest what he's got up his sleeve for his next term

Just read a lovely story that sums up Mutt Romney and his rabid republicans.
As Romney made his concession speech his organisation cancelled all his staff's credit cards, leaving them to pay their hotel fees out of their own pockets...
:)) :)) :))
Thank f*ck he didn't get in, moron.
