Ok so we have the white stuff - not too much here at the moment but I think we are on an Amber warning from the BBC for later today. Fingers crossed it doesn't amount to that much - take care out there folks.

Steady school run to Nottingham this morning. Not too bad.
If it keeps coming down like it is now he looks like staying there :-)

Went to etch the lad back just after dinner. weather was quite bad and forecast more snow. Got back to to town and most of it had gone. Bloody typical.

Yes we used to walk to school in heavy snow years ago the only reason i can think of was our teachers mostly lived in walking distance to the school itself.

I think the nursery at the school was open, and the only reason they sent the texts out was when the snow was heavy, had it of continued then they would have thought about ringing parents it didn't so they didnt. Hence i picked her up at 3:20 :D :D

Years back, most people didn't rely on cars, kids walked.
I can't do my job when all these other people are clogging up the roads with their dodgy winter driving  >;

Not heard any buses around - have they stopped running? Hubby opened gates and says road is icy. Pleased daughter doesn't live too far as I'm doing her care again today.

What is it with schools shutting or not opening etc when we have half an inch of snow...  What a joke.

Claims culture, Chris. Some would rather fall over and blame someone than take responsibility for themselves. Bought these stud things to go over boots a couple of years ago mainly for walking dogs in ice and snow and don't slip one bit.

Hope you get back safely Fly.
@ Slacker I bought a pair of fur lined wellie type boots years ago from bakewell, brilliant for this weather - dare I say it - they have never let me down - yet!

Yep made it back OK  :)
Main road through Boza was pretty clear, so when we got back, we cleared the snow from my taxi and went through to Tesco in Clowne. Did our shopping, and some for our elderly Aunt.
We dropped her shopping off on our way home.  ;)

No milk in Farmfoods. Bread almost gone, people buying 3 and 4 loafs each. Bloody stupid  :-?
We didn't actually need or want bread, so didn't buy any  ;)
Got some milk from Fultons.

Just got back from Drax power station no snow anywhere on the roads except our street because it never gets gritted.

Went for the usual friday shop yesterday normally is packed but it wa really quiet in there! All the panic buyers must of got there the day before. Lasses sat on tills with no customers (4 in a row) So they must have got the staff in to cope and then no bugger turns up.
Laura's school decided on a half day so they finished at 1pm on friday. If we are in for more heavy snow i imagine they will close the school again so got to keep the phone on...
Today we went for a play in the white stuff we threw snowballs at each other and she loved it... for kids its great fun

I signed up for the Derbyshire alerts Friday morning when I returned home later in the day I had an inbox full of them  :-? some were school closures but repeated themselves - reckon they must be paying a little person  ;) (have to be politically correct ) to keep pressing the send button!

Yes, when I worked at AGD our headquarters were in London - very often in winter we'd get a call from them saying they were all going home as it was 1/2 inch deep!

We seem to have got off lightly round here.  My elder daughter lives in Great Malvern in Worcestershire and she's been snowed in for a few days   :(

Did people panic buy on Friday?  I went to Morrisons yesterday morning and there was hardly anyone about.

Awww bless bet he/she is pleased to be indoors Pete.
@ Fly birds are eating us out of food we have for them, may get the car out tomorrow and buy some more.
I must say although it's not as bad as the other year DCC have at least cleared the main road through our village as much as possible, not easy with cars parked on the road side is it.

We put him in the kitchen as it's the coldest room in the house... Don't want him getting used to being warm  :))
