Is anyone else fascinated about our Universe. Without sounding like a complete geek, I think its bloody amazing.
The maths are just completely mind boggling and the pictures are incredible.
We are now in 2013 (unless your in Mansfield where its [still] 1982) and the Universe is approximately 13.75 billion years old. How can you comprehend such a vast number. 13,750,000,000 years!!!
And with the recent discovery that there are approximately 17 billion earth sized planets in our Galaxy, how can it not make you feel so small and insignificant.
Lots of good solar events this year, personally im looking forward to November time when a comet passes about 26,000 miles from Earth and will be visible for weeks. Thats going to be treat and the telescope is coming out for that one (as long as the calculations are right and it doesnt hit us).

Does anyone else think we don't get to see the stars out in mass as we used to?
I remember frequently lying on my back as a child on our lawn and looking uo at the mass, finding the bear etc was good fun.
Yet when we are out at sea or in other countries they seem to be able to enjoy the galaxy in mass as i remember back then.
Not a buff on this by any means but do enjoy star gazing.

Yes I also think that we cannot be the only form of life out of all the planets, mind you not too sure I run with the little green man with two heads thingy --- but hey -- who knows :o
The universe is facinating and so are some of the dramatic pictures of the sky.
Did you see the picture taken this last week taken I think in australia with the sky and sand storm - right place right time for the phographer.
I have witnessed a hurricane/water spout we watched the line come down out of the clouds into the sea and could clearly see the water being sucked up into the cloud facinating - but a bit frightening.
