Strange to read this as I have started a poll on a forum to see how many disabled people put into the WRAG to supposedly 'help' them to work for extra money
No one has yet ticked the 'yes' button.
Early days though yet but will be interested to keep track on it. ;)

>> I didn't get a penny when I did two weeks work experience as a 14 year old. Maybe I should get a claim in?
I think we all did work experience - but never thought about putting a claim in... I wouldn't have thought you needed the money, you often mention how well off you are.

There 'used' to be a law stating the age a young person could be paid a wage, was it 15?
Was this lady not doing voluntary work and then sent to work in a payable job (for others) and not given a wage?
Why couldn't they have stopped her benefits and paid her a wage like the other shop staff?
Or have a misunderstood it

Mod hat off...
>> Yep - they have a right to be paid, when they work.
Fat chance of that with this government in power.
>> What’s the difference between unpaid work at 14 to gain experience, and unpaid work as an adult to gain experience?
The person who the nutty driver is talking about is a graduate who does volunteer work anyway. If you think a fortnight working in Poundland is going to enhance her prospects in any way, I would disagree with you. Essentially, the government is breaking law - or at least the judges thought so.
>> Funny how it’s morally reprehensible to ask somebody on Jobseekers Allowance to do some work as a bit of experience, but it’s perfectly fine for many of them to expect money for literally nothing.
She was working, in a voluntary capacity. But obviously the government wouldn’t want that because it doesn’t hide the true unemployement figures.
>> I find your reference to my pesonal financial situation somewhat irrelevant, though not unsurprising.
It seems to be a trait at the moment to demonise anyone who is not working, despite the government cuts making so many good folks redundant. Just another exmple of the smug, rich Conservatives never missing an opportunity to slag off the poor. There are more genuinely unemployed folks in this country than benefit cheats – but hey, let’s not have the truth get in the way of Conservative propaganda.
>> Its OK for people to be taxed heavily, forced to sell homes, excluded from benefits, just so long as those people are healthy and keep their noses down and their money flowing in to be spent however the Govt sees fit. God forbid they have an opinion on how their taxes are spent.
I, for instance, am in full time employment, paid all relevant taxes, not had a single day off ill in the last 23 years and I don’t bleat about it every five minutes – and there are many, many others like me – and no number of attacks on me or my fellow workers will make me change my mind.
Puts soapbox away...
