Title: Meteor shower hits Russia
Post by: Old Cruser on February 15, 2013, 09:57:46 AM
This is scarey  :-? I have been watching this on the news as it streaks acroos the sky in Russia and injures 400 people
I think they are looking into it to make sure it 'was' actually a meteor and not something more sinister.
We also have the asteroid coming close to our earth soon am wondering if it was a spin off from that.
This will len much speculation to those that tell us the world is ending!

There are 2 this year that are quite close.

One is opver tonight and can be seen about 8pm-8.30pm, passing around 18000 miles away.  Its the size of an Olympic Swimming Pool.

The other is in November and December and will be seen for about 2-3 months.

Seen some scary looking videos of the meteor now I'm home and online  :o
I don't think the one tonight is coming anywhere near so close.

Between 9 and 9.30 tonight. You will need binoculars or telescope and look towards The Plough near the handle

So do I sit in the spare bedroom and look over Chesterfield for an hour,
or the main bedroom looking over Boza hospital ?  8)

Think I'll give this one a miss  ;)

Here's hoping people get their windows back in ASAP. Good to see the city and Gov coming together as a community.
-15 at night is not my idea of fun with no glass in my windows  :(
