Title: Tesco the worst supermarket in UK
Post by: Old Cruser on February 20, 2013, 12:58:13 PM
tesco's came  at the bottom  of nine major chains because of it's pricing, store envireoment, quality of fresh produce and customer service , scoring 45% - whilst aldi came second and Lidl third, beating Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Asda
Waitrose however scored 82 % in the Poll so off to waitrose then --- where is it  q?

Self-scanning makes it easier to get through checkouts though

We should all try and do less supermarket shopping anyway. In light of the horsemeat scandal, for example, we have stopped buying meat from supermarkets and have started to go to our local butcher.

If folks don't start to use local small shops we will lose them and then we will all be hooked in to the big supermarkets and all the nasty business practices that some of them have, like screwing suppliers until there is no margin left for them.

At the risk of repeating myself, I want this country run by elected politicians not big business.

I'm not posh. I once took a regular customer there.
Sadly she died in a terrible accident at her farm  :'(
Never been in the place.

You'd have thought, but pick up a "slow" phaser and you're blatting away at your item like someone at a Star Trek convention before the bloody thing bleeps and registers. Self-packing as you go round is great - them someone at the self-scanning checkout turns everything upside down to make sure you haven't stolen anything, so you get home (as I did yesterday) with a milk jug that has a punctured top, and somewhat less milk in it then when I picked the thing up. I'm not yet convinced that it is really any quicker than going through a traditional checkout.

Must admit I'm in favour of old style check outs. It's a job for someone and it stands in the way of the total automation of the sales process. Call me old fashioned but I like people more than machines. :)

I wouldn't like to put our main shop through myself much prefer to chat to the assistant who is scanning it

Our_Lass agrees totally. Self serve tills means someone loses a job. Just for company profit.

Suppose if I was to say no they don't and around 30% of customers claim they prefer them I'd be accused of toeing the company line.
So I won't say it !!!!

There's always a company employee looking for those that miss a scanned item  :))
Or there to help  ;)
So no, I wouldn't accuse you of anything JR.  :)

@ JR I am sure there must be many people who prefer the self check outs. As we only do a big shop - and I mean BIG every month there is no way i would enjoy scanning two trolley's through a check out  :-?

I didn't mean the self scan at the checkouts (which is a pain), I mean scan and load to your crates as you go round
