How do you create one of these links?

As an example, Pete posted this link: http://bit.ly/UAQ78R (http://bit.ly/UAQ78R) which directs to this: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/politics/article4751667.ece (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/politics/article4751667.ece)

How?

I copy the address/url, go to https://bitly.com/ - paste the address into the box and click Shorten. Then you get redirected to another screen with the small address in the middle, click Copy and paste it where you want it. Can be flaky.

I always have probs getting into newspaper links, very annoying at times - it's classed as 'platform'  ::)
Will have lots of black marks against me on my hard drive  ;)
