Title: Dayton crash. NASCAR says fans feeling unsafe can change seats.

Now I'm a fan of some motor sports. There's always an element of risk to the public though.
After Saturday's horrific crash that injured 30 or more spectators, would you want to go back to watch more races.
This reminds me of a scene from the 'Final Destination' film. Not a pretty sight.
I'm not sure I would go back. I'd have lost my belief in the safety aspect of the fences.

What about rallying with spectators crowding around high powered cars slewing all all around- they know the risks, but still stand too close to the track.
Seems to me if you are prepared to be that close to the action, you should be prepared for the consequences should things go wrong :(

There's no safety fences at rally's. Surely where you stand is down to common sense. Not on an outside corner.
If you're sat behind a safety fence at Nascar, shouldn't you be safe, even when the cars are doing an oval route.

I can see a lot of US law claims coming about from this tragic accident.

Having done a lot of Rally Marshalling up to and including World Championship level I can tell you that the average rally fan has no common sense when it comes to getting 'the best view' !!

Common sense, and a bit of pit training tells me what's the best side of a corner to sit and have a picnic.
I lost two good friend/mates whilst I worked at Boza pit.
One was in a position he should have known better about. RIP Morris  :(

Its lucky no-one was killed.  The footage was incredible.

But no wire mesh fence is going to stop a car engine going through it travelling at over 100mph.

We used to go to the Buxton raceway generally take 2 or 3 lads. always parked in the car at the back of the large fence - but must admit it got a bit scarey at times, never saw a car reach near the fence though,
