More than 11,000 local people have joined Derbyshire Big Deals, our energy switching scheme – and the numbers are still growing.
It’s a fantastic result that could save Derbyshire people collectively up to £1million on their gas and electricity bills.
I’d like to say a big thank you to the hundreds of you who have really got behind Derbyshire Big Deals – it’s been a big team effort.
All our libraries and Call Derbyshire have been helping people sign up. Schools and children’s centres have been spreading the word to parents and carers. And many more of you have helped by telling our service users and family and friends about Big Deals.
If you’ve already joined, thank you. You’ll find out at the end of March how much you could save and then you decide whether to switch.
If you haven’t joined Big Deals yet – there’s still time. It’s the last weekend to find a gas or electricity bill and register at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/bigdeals (http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/bigdeals) Please pass this link on to family and friends too.
Big Deals closes at 6pm on Wednesday 20 March.

What percentage do DCC get ?
-
:)) nice one Fly :)) We and daughter signed up for it. Will have to see if we can get a better deal
-
I'm not knocking the scheme, intrinsically it sounds good.
I just don't trust it from a council !
-
Don't know. It came through as an all persons email. If there is a potential to attract 11000 customers i would expect a bit of a price war that will benefit consumers.
-
This was tried before on a national level but not all the big 6 energy providers would participate, so for me anyway, it didn't provide a cheaper tariff.
-
Just signed up as well ,thanks Slacker worth a try to save money nothing lost if I don't gain anything.

and there in lies your problem.

I had an email a few weeks ago
-
and there in lies your problem.
Why?
-
Why?
Slavishly re-producing things, normally from your political masters which when challenged or queried on you don't have the personal knowledge to back up or elaborate on your claims.
-
It was sent out by the Chief Executive not the political leadership of the Tory controlled authority,
Seems a genuine attempt to get a good deal for local people
-
it was sent out by the chief exec but you didnt make that clear in your op. The use of I'd and Our could have led the un-initiated to believe that this was original thought from yourself (yeah as if). But when questioned you don't know the answers to fundamental questions. It's typical of most of your postings on here and on Facebook. It's also typical of most of the out pourings from politicians. All sound bites aimed at scoring political points but no substance.
-
You assume that because it's posted by me it must be it must be political points scoring rather than passing on something to the benefit of others, without even bothering to read it?
I think I posted the link a while back, this is a final reminder of the approaching deadline. Power companies will not worry about a handful of disgruntled customers threatening to leave but a potential mass exodus should prompt them to think about offering the best available deals.

I have received my letter from DCC regarding the above - it seems we could save £121.00 per year by switching to SSE :-? After listening to todays news I'm not sure I want to gamble on that :-?

I got an email from DCC yesterday saying they were delayed and they would be back in touch towards the end of April.
-
Yes I got that one as well but had an update today Alsatian
-
Not had one yet
-
Would you switch to SSE though in light of yesterday's news?
-
Don't forget EDF got fined last year and the investigations into Scottish Power and NPower are on-going.
Actually I'd probably be more likely to go with SSE as a result of yesterday. I wouldn't think they would want to end up back in front of the regulator again for mis-selling
