Have to say they're making a terrific job of the railings around the church in town. I'm impressed with their robustness and I'm certain they'll be especially resisitant to drunken men and women shagging against them when the nightime economy gets going. Good work!

I love the way they have cut bits of the old wall top away, and replaced them.
That's some super glue they're using there.
Yes, all in all, it's a tidy job. Looking good :)

Cheap at the price too - a mere £300K.

Was this not funded from somewhere else. Not the council.
Correct me if I'm wrong. ;)

The original railings were cut down in 1941 to help the war effort apparently.
Your right Barry, the funding has come from various sources, not completely from local authority.
I don't know the precise amounts, in terms of where the money has come from, but a mate of mine is a voluntary assistant at the church, and he tells me bits & pieces now & again when I see him.
It does look a thoroughly professional job, and after 72 years its about time! :)

You could be forgiven for thinking that they cut the lumps out of the stone for the post part, then turned the plans the right way round...

I think the railings really enhance the church, it's good to see such things being replaced - wonder how long it will be before some drunken idiot is impaled on them.
