The old ground has been bought by Barratt Homes for private housing. Demolition of the stands and terraces is scheduled for March this year.
So, something's happening at last... But what effect will it have on the Saltergate area if it coincides with the redevelopment of the Donut area?
I predict mega-chaos :o

What on earth does Russ Abbot want with an old football ground?

Yep - although no change there for that area of town....................how many more times are we to suffer roadworks on Foljambe Road - is this some kind of attempt to get in the Guinness (other stouts are available!) book of world records? :(

Don't hold your breath.
They could hold onto the land for years before they start building...when house prices have gone up. They are likely to clear the derelict stuff as the site is deemed safer, so if anyone tresspases they are less likely to get injured, etc, and the site is worth more if cleared and planning permission granted...but it could easily be 5 years before you see any houses going up.
Its a pain as I do a lot of work with builders and building regs, they like to think that if they applied for consent in 05, they can use the regs from then, even though they are only just starting to build, when you tell them they need to comply with the most up to date regs, (which are being updated again in 2013), they seem to think its not fair. (though to be honest, I don't think that will be the case with Barratts.)

TBH I don't really care about when building will commence, but it would be nice if the old buildings were demolished - they are nothing but an eyesore.

Has Moorhay? construction taken over the old Saltergate Club,
Does this area come under the new plans.

Yep, I think Moorhay has the club building.
Saltergate Club, as was, is marked in yellow and is outside the (red) boundary of the old site.
