So this is another petition running 'against' the other one not to build a new one.
-
Bit Blairish considering what is being forced upon the most vulnerable folks.
Bad idea and bad timing IMHO.
-
Unfortunately there is a lot of money being pumped into the old one.
The publicity going out is a bit one sided with some unanswered questions like what would become of the users and staff if the existing one was renovated or rebuilt. One suggestion was to pay them to stay at home or double up the staff at Staveley. strange idea from someone who runs his own business.
-
Pity the council didn't consult the 'paying' members of QPLC before making it's decision.
The lady I took home last week was furious when I handed her a flyer.
She knew nothing about the councils plans.

>> The publicity going out is a bit one sided...
That's because the council tell us nothing - they just say "thats what we're going to do" and they go all vague when asked questions about it.
>> One suggestion was to pay them to stay at home or double up the staff at Staveley.
Where is that Andy?

For Me Andy, That's a poor Argument given the amount of Rate Payers money being spent,
and for What......Limited Use of the New facilities.

Correct me if I am wrong but Middlecroft shut before the Staveley HLC opened. What happened to the staff on that occasion?
For my own part I think the town does need a new purpose built sports centre but I don't see why it has to be built on the annexe.
If the college are to be given dual usage (and if they are pretty much blocking the centre out 8 hours a day 5 days a week I think they ought to be paying a lot more than 1/3 of the costs) why not put it on the old Trebor site and use it as a centre piece of the new canal basin development?

Yes. Exec member and assistant decided it wasn't the best approach. Awaiting informative literature going out. Some on Alan's site think I have been through and deleted individual postings but that's not the case, my facebook site is inactivated at the moment

So, the fellow who started the petition with the words "We, the undersigned petition Chesterfield Borough Council..." is actually on Chesterfield Borough Council? I can see why it might not have been considered the best approach, especially when you compare other names on the list of petitioners with an up-to-date list of Chesterfield Borough Councillors.
