So...
We have a couple (or more) decent Italian, Indian, Chinese, Pub/Grill restaurants in and around Chesterfield
Is there anything we are missing?
-
The Thai are pretty good too.
Also didn't Pete report on a new Tapas bar?
Suppose a Tex-Mex wouldn't go amiss?
-
A proper tapas bar would be great. I went to Coco and had a very nice meal - but it isn't a tapas bar.
-
We have a Gurkha in Clay Cross, and a Japanese in town.
As much as I love Spanish food/culture - could you see a tapas bar succeeding in Chesterfield - interesting thought.
Then theres Bulgarian, Romanian, & Polish - sorry, they wash the cars for a fiver don't they. Not known for their haute cuisine I suspect. I stand to be corrected of course. :)

A good English? We like to go to The Old Post for birthdays and anniversaries but an alternative would be welcome.
-
Interesting concept but what exactly is English?
For example we went to the Telmere on Sunday for someones birthday.
The menu included Curry, Mousakka, Paella, Pasta and stir fry.
Yet a more 'English' pub run by 'English people' you couldn't wish to go to.
-
A multiculturial one would be good, our country has a mixture of cultures although I suppose our area not so much as in others - but wouldn't it be lovely to be able to go and have a vast choice of dishes from other cultures and at the same time sit and relax with others from different cultures.

In barnsley there is an all you can eat which has a thirty meter food line to choose from, carvery, chinese, indian, grill, fish and chips, italian, soups and salads and deserts all for £6 odd and soft drinks are refillable too. I intend to do something with the family up that way and take them to it at some point. Not been but heard good reports, we need something like this here pay one price and eat what ever you want and have more choice. All we seem to have is carverys and chineses with extortionate drink prices. http://www.taybarns.com/taybarns/menus.html (http://www.taybarns.com/taybarns/menus.html)

Welcome to the forum eabbus interesting selection of foods in there. Would have liked to have seen and multicultural choice of starters and desserts as well even if only a small selection. The price is certainly good, can't say i have evr heard of the company - -
Not too sure if the OP was more about waiter/ress service type eating place though, but - yes- I reckon that would take off in chesterfield.

Thanks for the welcome. Im one of them that can never make up my mind and everybody falls out with me as they have to wait so it would suit me. Id have everything :-?
-

Cheers fly, been watching from afar for ages but rarely have anything to add that hasn't already been said, never miss a thread though so I'll pop up every now and then if I get there first :)

Welcome to the forum eabbus ;)

Welcome....
I was myself wondering about a Tex-Mex kind... (always had a desire to do something in food one day :) )
As for Taybards, its ok if you have picky eaters (wide range) - but the quality leaves a lot to be desired, dishes (curries, chilles etc are overloaded with onions etc to bulk out)
OK for a novelty trip the once, but it's not somewhere I will be rushing back to

I'm sure you will have plenty to offer the forum eabbus, sometimes we just post an agreement with what someone else has said - look forward to seeing you pop up to join in :)
