Title: Flypast Celebrates Dambusters Raid
Post by: Pete on May 16, 2013, 03:48:21 PM
Just seen this on Youtube - a Lancaster bomber and other planes celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dambusters' raid on Germany with a flypast earlier today.

Excellent programme about it on BBC2 right now.

I was at a Britsh Forces school in Germany in the mid 1960s, not far from the Mohne dam. On school visits we used to walk across whistling the Dam Busters. When I went back in 1995 on a school reunion trip we (about 30 of us) did exactly the same  :)

Personal opinion on this.
Nice one, and glad you got to whistle a tune Dave  ;)

Would have liked to see the fly past. Work commitments stopped me :-(

There's a few vids showing up on Youtube etc - certainly a long drive to see one minute's flypast.

Long drive ?
Its only the other side of Bamford. Bet it was rammed today.
More reason for not going there.

Don't get the LadyBower, and, Derwent Dams mixed up.
The Lancaster Bombers did practice runs over the Derwent Dam.

I meant a long drive for someone who should be doing his taxi thing and the financial aspect - all for one minute of flypast.

And funnily enough I know about the Dambusters practices at the Derwent - please don't patronise me.

I don't or didn't patronize you.  :P
I also dare bet that not one person had a taxi to the Derwent Res from Chesterfield today.

The time of day Is proportionately attributed to the content of the post made.

It was packed.  My brother went up there, got there about 10am and parked in Bamford.

Heavily manipulated. Google HDR to see how it's done.
