Hypothetically of course. Heres the scenario...
Theres a Jackpot of £121 million
You are the only winner
What would you do with it?
-
A certain fraternity of Chessy area people would be on the lash somewhere foreign MD
-
I've spent lottery money many times = in my dreams.
Small detached bungalow somewhere quiet but not isolated
A round the word cruise
Some to the girls and grandchildren.
Thats all!!

£121 million?
Family would get a million each and I'd live on the rest of the £21 million. The other £100 million I'd give to various medical charities including diabetes, epilepsy, prostate cancer. They'd use it to help far more people than I ever could.

I've always thought that what I'd love to do is lodge a few million with a trusted bank manager or solicitor.
Then when you read in the local papers the story of how some youngster has had their Christmas presents stolen or a family is fundraising to send a terminally ill child to Disneyworld it would be great to just pick up the phone and get said Bank manager/solicitor to send off an anonymous cheque to cover the full amount.
That said we were discussing this at work tonight and the 'kids' I work with couldn't get their heads round the concept of me only wanting to win about £200k rather than the £141m. When I said I didn't want the 'responsibility' that came with such a large sum they thought I was mad.

Funny you should say that, when I saw the title I thought I don't want that much .

Me? I'd buy us a nice house, nothing massive, then a matter of getting a driving license and then buying a car. A holiday abroad once passports come through (ha) I would make sure mother in law and family were comfortable and just live off the rest i guess. Maybe some toward animal and homeless/children charities in this country
-
Needless to say, we didn't win jack squatt :))
-
I think you are right that amount is too much to comprehend and most would buy a property, car, have a holiday give to family and charities. The rest would maybe just sat there gaining (or not these days) interest.
Then of course there are some who would easily get through it and end up with nothing as we have seen in the news at times. I have always been mystified HOW they managed to spend it all.
I hate shopping for shopping sake bores me silly.
Now if I really NEED something I enjoy that!

3 winning lines last night!
A whole £22.
That increased my online account to £26 so i bought a £3 card online and won £20.
Still a few million short of the jackpot :D

Think I may have told this story on here before but I remember watching a TV programme about the first really big winner on the national lottery (think it was a triple rollover). The couple involved did all the usual things like buying the big house and a couple of nice cars and they took a dozen of their friends off to the Caribbean for a fortnights holiday.
On the last day the wife was sat in the kitchen of the villa they had hired, she turned to hubby and said 'so thats it is it'? When he enquired what she meant she said 'well we've got the house cars and had a nice holiday, the moneys gone now has it'?
He calmly explained to her that what they had spent amounted to a years interest!!!!

Remember Viv - the spend spend spend lady - didn't take her long to blow a huge amount

Id buy two cars. A high end Astra or Focus for general day to day use and an Aston Martin.
Id have a house built with a swimming pool and games room which would hold a full size snooker and pool table.
Id go to Las Vegas for 2 weeks and hammer the tables
Family get £1m each
Id phone Yorkshire Air Ambulance and ask them how much it costs to run for a year then write a cheque for 5 times that.

I'd disappear with the whole family for a month to an obscure hotel ,5 star of course, and take it from there.I'd definitely buy a car or two - obviously the best Scimitar I could find, and one of the new Jaguars. As for holidays, I find them stressful - but I love flying - so that would be on the agenda.
As for donations to charities, I'd have to think long and hard, but would definitely contribute.
Then I'd buy a state of the art bus and offer virtually free travel to passengers on whatever route I choose just to.... no, I better stop there!!
Dream on :)

>> and one of the new Jaguars
Oh yes - a new F Type for me :)

I'll buy one for you, if you will buy one for me. Deal? :D

Only one or two new cars? The house I'd buy would depend on the number of garages it had - a minimum of four with space for more as my fleet expanded.
-
That's a pretty obscene amount isn't it? I wouldn't know where to begin! If I was to buy a bigger house I'd have to move away from all the friends and neighbours I like so much. I don't think those friendships would withstand the balance being tipped, no matter how good the intentions.
Keeping it completely secret would work for me, while I quietly secreted huge lumps of the money to charities and good causes. My daughters and closest friends would benefit of course, but only on the proviso that they also kept it quiet. ;D
