Anyone know anything about this?
From the DT website - "The blaze, described as “significant” by Derbyshire fire service, broke out on Stone Lane, New Whittington, at about 12.30pm today."

Two fires in one day causing chaos.
Lorry fire on the M1 between j30 and 31 caused a backlog to J28 for about 5 hours

I went to Nottingham this morning, as per usual. Got there for 9:00AM. M1 JCT 29 - JCT 26 South bound.
Got back to town about 9:45AM, via M1 JCT 27 - JCT 29 North bound.
Same return journey this afternoon, but came back from M1 JCT 26. No probs. 3:00pm pick up in Notts.
Local radio stations really need to buck their ideas up ideas up.

The fire at bottom of Stone Lane was at a former garage which had lots of propane cylinders exploding apparently. I could see the smoke from Tupton from my bus. Worryingly, from that angle, it appeared to be just behind Royal Hospital (around noon today) as you can just see a chimney from the hospital, and Calow church spire from there, and the smoke billowing from behind it.
On my break (around 2pm), I spoke to the Stagecoach guys in the coach station who said they suddenly started receiving phone calls from people in New Whittington asking where to catch a bus. Somewhat perplexed they asked why, and were told about the fire.... apparently they could hear explosions going off in the background!!
Another boring day in Chesterfield........ ;)
