Title: One for JR. F1 wheel change.
Post by: Fly on July 07, 2013, 07:03:45 PM
Now I know the F1 pit crews could change 4 wheels in around 8 secs, jeez, how deluded was I.
The Grand Prix just happened to be on the telly, I wasn't actually watching it, but a pit stop caught my eye.
He pulled up, was lifted, tyres off, tyres on, lowered ,and gone. 3 secs max.

I don't watch F1 but that opened my eyes up. I didn't realise they could change that quick  :o

Did you not see the accident in the pits?

One car didnt have its tyre fastened and it came off wiping out a cameraman, apparently cracked ribs and a broken shoulder.

Wasn't actually watching it Simon.
Saw the one where the crew member took about 10secs to get a front wheel off.  To****, sack him  ;D

Back in the day they changed four wheels and put 60 litres of fuel in the tank, took about 11 seconds.

"Back in the day" - horrid Americanism. What's wrong with "Previously"? A single word instead of four.

Have you seen how quickly the Shiny car wash crew can wash and polish a car? I bet they could change wheels fast too.  :)

Nothing wrong with Americanisms. Have a nice day y'all  !!!
McLaren did once staff their pit crew exclusively with Scousers.
They had the wheels and tyres off the car inside 2 seconds.
Problem was they all then did a runner rather than putting new ones on!!!
