Title: Phone calls - reverse charges
Post by: Old Cruser on July 12, 2013, 04:17:00 PM
Has anyone else had this problem.
On daughters phone bill we noticed the same number under the 'calls charged' Daughter says the calls were to her - she didn't make them.
I checked the number and the below link is what I found.
Has anyone else had this problem and can we get them stopped?  >:(

Not with you on this OC - are you saying that they are ringing your daughter and reversing charges?

No Pete on my daughters phone bill there are several numbers which she has been charged for, daughter says she hasn't called the number - but the number has called her I think selling stuff?
I have checked the number and it is on the list in the link - I am reading it that it a reverse charge call? (Look at the top of the link page?) from someone selling stuff? Is this possible - looking at the top of the link page it has Curry's PC WORLD ON. she has recently purchased things from the one in Chesterfield?

I can't find it myself now Pete - it's not you - must be my breain addled with the heat  ;D
I probably clicked on a link within the link - if you get my meaning.
Actually it looks just like a pop up advertising feature as I have had another look in my link and it's appeared at the side - followed by Vax advertising.

Anyway - have you come across this? Surely it's not legal to do it?

Almost certainly not ethical, but with our laws, who knows whether it's legal or not. Not my area of expertise...  :(

I got stung for £15 of mobile credit. I'd done nothing. Not text nowt anywhere.
Managed to get in touch with a person, but never received a penny back.

Here's another story.

It's not a mobile call Fly - it's a landline through TalkTalk.
I've asked her if they told her they were reversing the charges and if so did she accept - she said no and I haven't phoned that number.  >:(
Not happy people can get away with this! >:(

Been googling for you this last 1/2 hour OC.
All I can find is links to people who have been ripped off.
Google's a company that want to sell stuff, web space, advertising etc.

Think it's about time I started using another search engine. The stuff I want to see just doesn't show up in searches on Google.

Well no response Fly so now the dog in me has come out of it's kennel.

I have spoken to TalkTalk who gave me another number which I rang.

The person suggested there may have initially been an operator who asks if you will take the call - ok I have asked daughter if this has happened and she says no.

Also it was suggested I ring the number -  which I have and get a noise like a fax machine would make?

Have just emailed trading standards for any suggestions they may have.

Probably something very simple but i want to know!!

Had an email from T/S followed by a call today, very helpful lady.

She had spoken to Ofcom who queried if my daughter had any fall detectors etc - which she has.
It seems that these can actually be chargeable if any are faulty - I do know daughter had a call telling her that her bed sensor was registering as having a fault and I also used the button on two occassions after she broke her wrist -first advising them that she wasn't at home - but had a cat which may activate the bed sensor and then I made another one advising them that daughter was back at home. This would maybe explaine why when I tried the number it sounded like a fax machine?

Anyway the lady gave me two names of links where I can register daughter for free to stop telesales (or at least cut them down) also to stop junk mail.

This is the Telephone Preference Service where anyone can register free.
