That is quite frightening as to how easy it is to gain access to some peoples bank accounts
-
Hence the reason I posted it.
Don't trust no one by phone, mobile or landline.
Your bank will 'NEVER' ask for your PIN on a phone call.
-
TBH I think the guy is being very hard on himself - lots of people, especially the err, not so bright, get taken in by these scams - as the article points out, they knew so much information about him.
Remember there are many people who are not as web savvy as us and they can get taken in - old people too.
-
Hopefully, by spreading online, the content of the article, more people will become aware. ;)
-
Eh?
-
Explain mate. You've lost me :?

Might have posted this before but I love it when I get warning letters and messages from the bank saying never give out your personal information. Then of course the bank ring and say 'for security purposes will you confirm your address and date of birth?' Err how's about no I ***** wont
-
The receptionists at my doctors often ask for the first line of my address and date of birth on the phone and I'm always asked for it when collecting prescriptions when anyone in the chemist can hear.
I never, ever use cashpoints. If I need cash, I go into my bank.

I once read an article on what the thieves do when they have watched someone taking money out of them and steal it.
Some years ago I had a call from my bank can't remember the details what they called for but were asking questions and needing info about my account - I flatly refused to give it, the assistant became flustered and annoyed, passed me onto her 'her boss' I still wouldn't answer his questions despite his reaasurance ended up telling him to bugger off and to send me a letter and that I would go into my local branch once I had received it.
What Fly has posted has highlited how easy it is for some people to be conned out of their money - were these thieves living say in Dubai - they would have their fingers chopped off!
