Whooppee dooo ::)
-
What a waste of money.
-
Cyclists have a right to be on their bikes on roads in a safe manner.
-
Tell 'em to stop riding on the pavements then.

Absolutely, and they should obey the Highway Code too :)

Having been mowed down on a pavement by a 14 year old kid a few years, get the bikes on the road.
My last post was a p... take. What brings workers/shoppers into town to use or have businesses.
I bet cyclists are a small % now and will be in the future.
-
Not sure what the Chesterfield population is these days, but I recon there's less than 20 cyclists on the road at any given time (races excluded).
£308,000???

"We are committed to reducing Derbyshire's carbon footprint and cycling instead of using the car is a great way to help us achieve this.
"We hope that people will enjoy using the cycle path once it is opened and apologise for any traffic delays that may be caused."
Bunch of twats from top government all the way down.
IMHO
Can't see me cycling 8m every morning to get to work, and another 8m back ::)
-
It's part of the governments plan to get us off out butts and cycle - more excerise!
-
I bet it doesn't work.
Or do the bikes come on benefits :-)
-
There are some places York is one where it's quite common to see people riding cycles, many European countries travel arond on cycles.

Now there's an idea. I can't actually ride the things - poor balance and over-compensating fear of falling off - so I wonder if I can get a three-wheeler, on the Social? ;D

Total waste of public taxes. Don't care what 'fund', 'EU' or 'UK'. Wasted in Chesterfield. :-)
-
Just out of interest, how much secure cycle parking is there in Chesterfield?
If its like Sheffield, very little. People arent going to cycle in just to get their bike stolen.
-
In London it's almost all-out war between taxi drivers and cyclists and there is an increase in both having video cameras for evidence of incidents. I'm all for a network of cycle routes away from traffic.
-
Isn't this a continuation of the combined footpath and cycle lane that goes from the Casa Hotel to the bottom of Hazlehurst Lane?
-
I wouldn't mind having a go at cycling but not sure if I would fall off!
Certainly wouldn't be brave enough to go down Derby Road though as some do, there 'used' to be a cycle track between the roundabouts at Tupton years ago, but that's only a small section of Derby Road.
