Saw this was coming up next Monday on BBC 1
I've put it to record as it looks interesting - probably will be well annoyed after watching it
The government says it is cracking down on tax avoidance and evasion, but does the tough talk really stand up to scrutiny? Panorama goes undercover in the City to investigate the truth about UK tax policy. The programme discovers how London is still home to the tax avoidance industry and how new laws could allow big companies to avoid billions in tax.

Good find OC - will be watching. :)

Finally got around to watching this on iPlayer. It was a bit hard to hang on to, but the overall message is that the government is saying one thing and doing another.
Cameron is giving it large on the international political scene saying that we will be tough on tax dodgers by the rich and super-rich - and at the same time bringing out laws that allow these people to REDUCE their tax bills.
Worth the watch if you are interested in what is really going on in this country. Its a f*cking farce.

Wont make the slightest bit of difference whatever ANY government does for the simple reasons of pragmatism and economics.
Pragmatism: because Governments know that the businesses and people with all the money can simply up sticks and move should their tax bill get too high. So do you want them here paying 10% or in Switzerland or the Caymen Island paying nothing?
Economics: The guys writing our tax laws are civil servants. The guys working for Google Starbucks Amazon et al save their companies billions in tax payments. Who do you figure gets paid the most? So where are the cleverest brains going to land?
