I've just had a glimpse of the DT's next front cover and its mainly about black refuse bins being smaller and paid for by the public. Is this true? Anyone have any details?
-
A proposal in the NEDDC and BDC area I believe. Our black bin is never more than half full so having a smaller one wouldn't be a problem - paying £58 for it might be!
-
We've had small size one for ages. Not much that can't be recycled unless you have a family with several young kids
-
We still manage to fill ours even though we are reduced in numbers now.
I've not read it but hubby did and he said people moving into 'new' properties would have to pay for one - so will have a gander myself now.
-
Ours is always full when they come to collect - no way I want a smaller one.
If this is a problem I suggest the council takes it up with the supermarkets and their obsession with packaging.

Are you saying that young kids can't be recycled?!!! >;
-
Charging for bins in new properties has been around for years in Chesterfield
-
Our rubbish varies for the black bin but i dont think having a smaller one would help, it would mean on a bad week we could have excess rubbish we also tend to fill the blue bin up too so cant say we don't recycle lots lol
-
At present, personally, we only put our out once a month. There's only packaging as Pete said in it.
Most food goes out for the birds, everything else gets recycled.
-
Can't the packaging be recycled?
-
some can and some can't i think, for us its nappies too which obviously can-not be recycled although its just 7 in a week (nighttime) I have put the bin out today and its not full just over half way but that isnt to say that next time it could be full up..

Does the picture on the front make the smaller bin look 75% of the larger one? In reality they are the same height but a bit thinner and this deliberate misrepresentation is aimed at stirring up protest rather than focusing on the need to reduce landfill. "What a load of rubbish" sums up DT's journalistic integrity.

The comparative sizes in the photo show the smaller one of about 100 litres rather than the proposed 180. An exaggerated pictorial representation designed to stir up yet more anti council (anti Labour) protest
-
Has the DT removed my first rant? Only got phone to view on now and there are 3 different threads on tithe subject

Look at the scuff marks on the side - it is exactly the same bin, just shrunk down on some computer programme. Very shoddy work. You have to wonder what they teach these young "journalists" in Photoshop classes.

Just backed Slacker on the DT's Facebook page.
Beat me to it Andy. Numpty in town hall has nothing to do with BDC or NEDCC. Numpty editor at the DT ought to learn a few facts before posting gutter rubbish
