My grandson has his 11th birthday next month and I went with him and his dad to various music shops to look for a new guitar.
I started to teach him when he was eight or nine years old but he got good quick and started to go to a professional guitar teacher. He now knows more than me.
But the feeling I got when we went into shops full of beautiful electric guitars and hairy musicians was amazing. He just sat in the middle of the shop trying guitars, not at all nervous, and played his best licks. I was so proud. Obviously it wasn't a "tear in the eye" moment, although it came close.
Looks like Fender have sold another Jaguar. :)

That's a lovely story Pete, bet you are so proud. Well done to your grandson :)

Well done to both of you. Tried the guitar years ago but it just wasn't for me ;)

I was given Piano lessons from about 9/10yrs old.
Have enjoyed classical music ever since but doubt I could play a piece now

I was ok with a recorder as an infant 8)

TBH, I was never a great guitarist, but the beauty of the electric guitar is if you turn it up really loud, even simple chords sound great! Add a drummer who's not afraid to hit the skins and you've got a rock band... :))

Your grandson seemed to enjoy the music at Grousefest

Yeah, he stood there for what, four hours? Not until 5.30 did he say he had had enough.

Love it - something to be proud of ;)
