The proposed building of over 1000 homes will potentially cause more gridlock on the main routes in at out of the southern side of Chesterfield. Councillors from these areas believe that a route over the railway towards the A617 and M1 should be included in the works. There is a public meeting on Thursday.

Slacker can you enlighten me on the route over the railway, where will it pass through. Have you any plans to post so we can look at where the proposed route would go?
-
I would assume that it would mean a route coming out on the grassmoor side of the site utilising the link road and then turning right through winsick to the temple normanton jct of the bypass. Only problem I can see with that is those people who choose to utilise that route and turn left and either come down the green or the main Mansfield/ hasland road. That would just shift the chaos

Is there an alternative they could use?
1,000 new homes would be my priority.

Looking at posters down the Mill Lane ages ago about this, I was under the impression one of the fields to the right walking down Mill Lan from Adlingtons Avenue was to be in this development.
If that is correct how would this then affect the Avenue Washlands

All these new homes will bring in extra traffic whatever happens but a link over the railway would dilute the effect a bit. Current proposal is one access on the A61 with a roundabout.

Loved the post about your pic on CF. "Worked on the other forum" LOL ;D

Did you go to the meeting Slacker
-
Yes I went. The contribution from the developers was a bit like a sales pitch but the public were there out of concern for traffic congestion on the A61 and also other roads used as rat-runs.
Several Chesterfield Councillors and the 2 MPS (CBC and NED) had a say.
Unfortunately those paying for the clean-up have no budget left for roads and as there may be several housing developers so it's unlikely full amount will be available for a link over the railway though there is a piece being left unbuilt to facilitate a future road.
There will be a primary school but existing senior schools will have to find room for the extra kids.

Don't build then. If there aren't new roads it will stifle that side of town.
I hated the M1 widening scheme, it cost me hours of unpaid sat in queues.
Now my contract's have changed, I'm facing more unpaid hours sat in queues !!

Ok thanks so all traffic will come out onto the Derby Road then? Filtered by traffic Lights or round about

Slacker when you say chesterfield councillors do you mean CBC? Did no NEDDC or DCC ones turn up given its in the formers area and the latters responsibility for highways?
