Title: Legal highs, what's your opinion.
Post by: Fly on October 17, 2013, 08:28:22 PM
Just watched 'Tonight' ITV.
These legal highs are chemical substitutes that simulate the effects of cannabis, cocaine, etc.
Should shops be allowed to sell them. 'Reefer' does on Knifesmithgate. I see kids loitering round there every day.
Trouble is, if that type of shop didn't sell the stuff, would the kids buy from underground sources,
and probably end up taking even more dangerous substances.
The program really opened my eyes.

Should the milder drugs like cannabis be legalised and people educated more about it's use ??

PS. Just finished watched Emmerdale, don't care what drugs you take, you can't hold your breath that long  ;D

I guess a lot of people would tell you that alcohol and tobacco are 'legal highs' the problem being where do you progress to when they no longer hit the spot. There's obviously a lot of scope for the unscrupulous to be selling all  sorts of weird and wonderful concoctions. Personally I'd say it can only end up badly

Pretty much agree with Jon - any legal high, plus booze and fags, can eventually lead to a bad place.

I knew I'd started a thread on this topic. Didn't see the point in starting a new one.
Saw the same bunch hanging around Knifesmith Gate yesterday. An hour later, it's like this.
Perhaps there's a connection.

I saw the ambulance pull up, saw the ambulance persons run into the gitty, then walk calmly out and get the stretcher.
They disappeared into the gitty again, then wheeled a young lad out on the stretcher.
Not sure if he'd fainted or had a fit, collapsed or what, but he wasn't looking very well. Air pipe in his throat
By then, a cop car and 2 cop vans had pulled up.
They taped the area off and were taking notes from the ever growing 'bunch' for about 15 minutes.
The ambulance was still parked there. I picked up a customer and got back about 25 minutes later.
Every thing/all had gone. Not seen any of the usual 'bunch' today to ask if the lad was OK. Hope he is  :(

Reefer's been open as usual  ::)

I don't agree with them.
What is needed is looking into 'why' the person needs them in the first place - very often a 'trigger point' I would say.

As already said, 'why', could also lead to alcohol or fags, or worse !!
