Title: HS2: government accused of suppressing rail project's 'losers'

The government has been accused of attempting to suppress the drawbacks of its flagship transport project after previously unseen research revealed cities across the UK could lose up to £220m each as a result of HS2.

However, these findings were omitted from the report published by the government in September, the BBC reported, and only released after a freedom of information request by the BBC's Newsnight programme.

Thank goodness that Labour sorted the Freedom of Information Act - helps mere mortals keep our eyes on the dodgy Conservatives… Also explains their hatred of the BBC.

HS2 will do nothing for area. Won't get to London any quicker as it will take longer to get to the station at Meadowhall than the journey time saved. the old line will be left  with frequent stop trains instead of express trains. People close to the proposed route are struggling to sell their houses. Staveley in particular will suffer.  And that's without mentioning the costs.

Very worrying that Labour is throwing its weight behind Cameron.
