Set to close soon, apparently. Your elderly relative that needs that sort of rehab after a spell in the Royal will have to go to Clay Cross, Bolsover or Bakewell. And so will you, of course, if you want to visit them.
-
Crikey Stuart, that was quick...only came out today...officially
-
What exactly is Walton used for these days apart from the rehab, some social services and orthotics.
Years ago they had an operating theatre there, have they still got one?
-
Mainly used as Offices, Training, Dementia patients, orthotics,
and no theatre anymore
-
Thanks Kent, it's quite a large spread out area isn't it.
I'm wondering now if they will move everyone else eventually and sell it off.
Any thoughts?
-
I hope they don't sell it off. There's a brand new unit that has been built during this last few years round the back.
But, knowing the gov and the tightening of the purse strings, even new builds are being sold off.
Wouldn't surprise me to see it sold off and a new housing development appear ::)

My memory might be playing tricks given its over 6 years ago but Im almost certain Walton and West forum were consulted on an outline planning permission for housing that included some of the hospital land and some belonging to Chesterfield Golf Club.
-
The Housing rumour has been about for ages, but I have heard a strong rumour
that they are planning to build some more offices there.
-
Where else are they going to put all the senior management and administrators who won't be losing their jobs when the "Caring for Humans" part of things is closed? >:(
-
also deals with mental health and Tier 3 weight loss.. Partner was there for 2 years and lost a significant amount of weight!
-
Sounds like it's still a busy place then.
@ Kent is that to 'add on offices' or knock down the buildings and start again.
@ Stuart they will probably have to be squashed together and share desks like social workers are having to - if this is what is happening.
@ Slacker - can you add to this thread at all as we are speculating a bit?

Not Sure, been hearing that they could convert existing ward/s and or new build.

So maybe not selling it off then.
