Update from DCC
Changes to existing speed limits along a stretch of the A61 have been approved today (22 October).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To help control the speed of traffic through Stretton Village and along the A61, we have agreed the following changes:
Reduction of the 50mph speed limit to 40 mph on the A61 Stretton Road, Clay Cross and A61 Main Road, Stretton (south of Clay Cross through Stretton village), to the south side of B6014, Morton Road
Introduce a 40mph limit between the 30mph limit through Clay Cross and the 50mph limit to the north of Clay Cross.
Our Deputy Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, Councillor Dean Collins, said:
"We are always mindful of road safety and the effect speeding traffic can have on people's quality of life.
"By introducing these measures, we hope to maintain a steady and safe flow of traffic on this stretch of a busy road."
Work is due to start later this year.
